Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
― Arthur C. Clarke
ML is doing such cool things.
This is a video from yesterday and it's one of the craziest things I've seen in a while.
Very well made, very convincing deep fake. This technology is advancing quickly. It’d be fun to play with it one day.
Amazing work, better than the dumb edits of the special edition.
Cute littel short by Pixar.
WWI footage, restored, colorized and with added sound. Looks incredible.
Spike Jonze directed this two-year old ad that is weirdly awesome and I never saw before.
Very interesting documentary about R2D2. Learned a lot from it. Worth a watch.
Excellent!
After 3 months of work and probably more than 500 fails, I'm happy to present you my best video ever.
Since magnets and marbles I've always wanted to make a big chain reaction in one take with this 2D style !
This looks just like the thing the Mossad would use. I wouldn't have thought this were possible.
Weird and unexpected. I don't recall ever seeing an ad for FileMaker, which has been around since 1986!
Fun video.
Not as good as the Seagulls one, but very good.
Cheesy video... but those speeder bikes!
Wow I missed the original meme. Catchy.
Super trippy animation, done the old fashioned hand-drawn 2D way.
Looks real, but it's fake.
Beautiful music video. Worth watching.
Looks fake, but it's real.
"Aerial Filming took a giant leap forward when Swedish aerial specialist, Peter Degerfeldt at Blue Sky bluesky.se challenged Gyro-stabilized Systems in Grass Valley, US, to build a GSS 520 5 axis system that would produce rock solid images at a speed of more than 300 knots."
This is extremely cool technology.
Well done, Delta. Well done.
The concept video looks amazing... too bad it's completely fake and all done in after effects. I don't know why Microsoft likes to set such expectations, it seems dishonest. I am extremely skeptical that the real final product, whenever it arrives, will work even remotely close to that.
Start watching at 1:30. Incredible.
Funny thing is that if someone used this footage in a Hollywood movie, people would complain it looks fake.
By adding software to the phone, they can now basically replace expensive video harnesses. It's incredible.

Cool video showing Disney's principles of animation. The 2013 Mickey Mouse cartoons don't follow these well and I think that's what makes them look un-Disney-like to me.
Clever editing. Pretty video.
Interesting video, more so in light of Apple buying a big plant in Arizona just for making saphire glass. Today they use it on the camera lenses of their products and on the home button fingerprint reader of the 5s. What do they have in mind for this plant?
Cutest prank. In Spanish.
This dude is crazy.
Magnetic putty "eating" stuff on video. Where do I buy magnetic putty?
Excellent explanation.
It's great to see reality far exceeds in beauty any modern over-the-top special effects used in movies nowadays.
Hypnotic. Disturbing.
Very pretty.
Via Eva, something pretty to watch this morning:
"A study published earlier this year by Harvard scientists discovered that an animal’s speed increases with body size, but only to a certain point. A gazelle is faster than a mouse, but also faster than an elephant. By studying a certain species of lizard that can vary quite greatly in size, these researchers realized that speed and the length of the gait increase with size until the weight of the animal forces the limbs to adjust their motion to support mass in order to not fall over. You can read about that study here."
Batter Blaster is (was) great and I'm legitimately saddened that it is out of business.
Impressive video camera can do 1080p HDR video. You may or may not know (or care) what this means... but check out in the second video the shot of someone soldering. You have never seen something like this on video look so clear.
I linked to GoPano before. This is a video taken with a very similar (or the same?) techonology. It's a 360 degree video of the riots in Vancouver. Awesome (the tech, not the riots).
Caricatures are hard. To make them look easy is even harder!
GoPano technology for the iPhone. I don't know what the quality will end up being, but this basically allows you to shoot contiguous 360 degree video. So cool.
This is brilliant: A "lens" that is actually a specially curved mirror that allows a camera to capture a full 360 degree panorama at once. Capture video this way and then use software to play it back where you can pan around QTVR style. Imagine this on an iPhone with touch... wow.
This is a cool video from Bell Labs (1968) that explains the basics on how computer works and whether they can think of not. Forty years later we can see how the principles apply, the challenges are the same - but a lot of progress has been made on all these fronts. Very well made.
Better start getting ready.
Soooo pretty.
