The right wing. The left wing. The religious. The anti-religious. Everyone but the "radical" center made it - which happened to win the largest total number of seats. A total of thirty (!) ministers. I wouldn't bet on this coalition staying together too long. It's just too surreal.
Oh great.
Interesting article fills in more details about the 2007 airstrike on Syrian territory.
He's right. This conference, like Durban I, is turning into a surreal spectacle in which some of the worst human right offenders, oppressive, and anti-democratic governments use this "official" forum to demonize the State of Israel. It's a sad, sad thing. The fact that the U.N. hosts this "Racism" conference in which the most anti-semitic countries put together the most anti-semitic statements make a farce out of the U.N.
That was a close call... relief.
Now they gotta keep Lieberman out of the coalition.
Interesting editorial by Italian journalist Lorenzo Cremonesi. He talks about a very old and common thing whenever violence flares up between Israel and the Palestinians: The rumors, reported casualties, and reports are almost always systematically exaggerated. They get reported. The world cries in outrage. Later the UN or some other body reports the correct numbers but by then the damage is done and the collective memory indicates Israelis are savages. Remember Jenin? Perfect example. The Israeli army is sometimes slow to report numbers, but they are almost always very accurate at the end.
