It’s always interesting to hear about how incredibly important Open Source projects are (barely) maintained. This one is a pretty interesting story. There must be a lot of pressure on these people.

Bitcoin is a fascinating concept with lots of problems in practice: it's an environmental disaster, it leaves owners completely unprotected from being ripped off, and it is almost exclusively used for questionable things.
This is an example where Bitcoin is used effectively to survive in the midst of a completely collapsed economy. It is incredibly interesting.
This goes to show how vulnerable we are to a hack by a dedicated attacker.
Since I first heard about it, Bitcoin has fascinated me. The concept, how it works... It is well beyond the grasp of what I've seen in the mainstream media and most people who aren't computer scientists. The economics aspect of it is also fascinating to me but I understand it far less. Also, the fact that the creator was a mystery... Was it a single person or several? A government? Dealers of illegal products building a way to enable anonymous electronic transactions? If this guys is truly the man, that last mystery is soved. PS what a dick this reporter. Just look at the highest rated comments. Total asshole, zero integrity. In hacker terms, he doxed the guy.
I have been following Bitcoin since long before it started showing up in mainstream news. I find it to be a fascinating economy experiment unleashed in the real world. This is the first moral evaluation of it that I have seen from a real economist. The article he links is also interesting.
